Brand Emissions Leaders
In November 2009, ENDS Carbon is partnering with Marketing Magazine and Brand Republic to launch the Brand Emissions Leaders Project . It rates the carbon emissions performance of 600 major UK and global brands against their competitors. Both public and private company brands are being evaluated to determine the Brand Emissions leaders in each of 25 sectors.
Brand Emissions uses objective criteria to identify and give recognition to the brands that have gone furthest to address their carbon emissions, and to provide information and support to the brand management community as it strives to take action on climate change.
Brands included in the assessment have been selected based on having:
- a recognised brand presence in the UK
- an annual turnover in excess of £150 million
- are from one of 25 Brand Emissions focus sectors for 2009
The focus of this year’s survey is company-level brands rather than product-level brands.
Brands will be reviewed by ENDS Carbon using objective carbon emissions criteria in four areas.
- Carbon disclosure
- Emissions reductions
- Carbon intensity
- Targets for future emissions reduction
The research uses public domain data including information provided to the Carbon Disclosure Project, CSR reports and company websites.
